HORIZONTAL AIR CURTAINS

Keep snow from entering switches or covering hot bearing scanners.

The Horizontal Air Curtain System produces a high velocity curtain of ambient air to prevent the accumulation of ice and snow.

The system consists of a blower and ducts that delivers high velocity air to the point end of the switch mechanism. The output from the blower is ducted below the rails to the point end nozzles mounted within the switch. Two 130 mph streams of air are directed at the point of the rail preventing snow and freezing rain from entering the switch mechanism.

For residential areas, we offer the Quiet HAC with reduced noise level of 5 decibels.

Protect railroad switches with HACs and hot bearing detectors with HAC/HBD.

HAC/HBD

The Horizontal Air Curtain for Hot Bearing Detectors (HAC/HBD) ensures reliable operation of hot bearing detectors all winter long. The scanner line of sight is kept clear by preventing the accumulation of snow and freezing rain. It does this by covering the scanner with a high velocity curtain of ambient temperature air.

FEATURE BENEFIT
Compatible with major scanner makes Fits Servo, GRS, and STC Scanners.
100 mph nozzle air velocity Maximum clearing performance.
Ambient air Minimized energy cost. No need for heated air.
Ducting connections electrically insulated to 1500 Vac. Assures track signal integrity.
Slide mounted, height adjustable, rotatable nozzles Easily adjusted to put the air where needed.
Spring loaded nozzles Resists damage from dragging equipment and Hi Rail truck tires.
High profile air intake Ensures maximum performance by preventing blockage of intake during heavy snowfall.
Blower housing 14 gauge and ducting 11 gauge steel construction, epoxy powder coat finish Ruggedness and durability to withstand the railroad environment.
1.5 Hp, 120V or 240V Select a convenient operating voltage.
Balanced fan and motor sets Long vibration free life.
Remote/Auto/Manual control Allows control by RTC, or automatically by temperature switch, or locally by maintainer.
Optional temperature switch Conserves energy by turning HAC/HBD off when the temperature rises above freezing.
Optional delay start timer Allows stagger start of multiple blowers to reduce inrush current and line size.
Custom extension ducts available Conveniently locate the blower housing.
Tie mount nozzle brackets available Alternate mounting means.
